We're very happy about the oak mantle we bought - the quality is amazing. We ordered the dark oak finish in a 100cm x 50cm. The finish is a "live edge" and it's super smooth. You need to be a confident DIYer to fit this yourself, so be careful. Supplied with the mantle are two lengths of rebar (I think 20cm). It comes with instructions to drill two 12mm holes in both the wall and the wood mantle, into which the rebar goes. I would advise against this. You need at least 13mm holes, (if not 14mm with either resin filler or lots of heavy duty builder's adhesive) I had to file down the rebar, and make the holes a bit bigger in both materials. It's very difficult to drill again to increase size by just 1 or 2mm, as any handyperson will know. At one point I had the rebar in the wall (level) and then had to hammer on the mantle, but it got stuck halfway on - I couldn't hammer any harder or else I'd damage the wood (I did a little). I did use a wooden batten, wrapped in a rag, against the wood mantle, and hammered against that. Because it's an uneven "live edge", a flat scrap of wood might leave a flat impression on the natural edge of the mantle. So I got a car-jack and strapping to jack it back off in order to make the holes bigger in the wood. (Which i had to do to the wall too - 12mm isn't big enough hole) I made a jig from a scrap piece of batten with holes drilled in the position I wanted. I glued it to the wall at a level position and then used it to line up the holes in the mantle. I required an SDS drill for my concrete wall and you'll need an auger drill bit for the wood. I recommend the product highly, but be careful with the fitting.
